Grade 304 is the standard '18/8' stainless; it is the most versatile and most widely used stainless steel, available in a wider range of products, forms and finishes than any other. It has excellent forming and welding characteristics. For restroom applications it is common to use special '304DDQ' (Deep Drawing Quality) variant. Grade 304 is readily brake or roll formed into a variety of components for applications in the industrial, architectural and transportation fields. Grade 304 also has outstanding welding characteristics and does not require post weld annealing when welding thin sections.

SX 316 is an improved version of SX 304, with the addition of molybdenum and slightly higher nickel content. The resultant composition of SX 316 gives the steel much increased corrosion resistance in many aggressive environments. Molybdenum usage makes the steel more resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-contaminated media, sea water and acetic acid vapours. The lower rate of general corrosion in mildly corrosive environments give the steel good atmospheric corrosion resistance in polluted marine atmospheres. SX 316 offers higher strength and better creep-resistance at higher temperatures and at sub zero temperature it possesses excellent mechanical and corrosion properties. When there is a danger of corrosion in the heat-affected zones of weldments, the low-carbon variety SX 316L should be used. SX 316 Ti, the titanium-stabilized version, is used for its resistance to sensitization during prolonged exposure in the 550°C-800°C temperature range.

All pilasters are supported by Merino Titan Steel 'L' bracket with floor anchor bolt, which is concealed with stainless steel flat box-up of height 100 mm. The stainless steel box-up shoe is available in SS Grade 316. Fixing of intermediate panels to the wall shall be with stainless steel grade -304 U channel section fixed into wall with SS 304 screw inserts.
